The traditional Japanese line of Reiki Usui by Aoki Gakkai arose from the desire to rescue the Reiki Usui method without the insertions made after its arrival in the West, mainly in the 1980s.
After the death in Michigan in the United States of sensei Hawayo Takata in 1980 (Reiki master who introduced the Japanese method in the West), masters trained by her, and masters trained by these masters, then began to insert their personal beliefs from others. cultures, changing their history, creating new symbols and systems.
Mikao Usui, founding master of Usui Reiki Ryoho, said in his only recorded interview, that the method he had created was original and incomparable to any other, so Usui Reiki was not rediscovered by him and neither was it taken from another technique. similar or ancient culture as suggested by Western American Reiki masters. It appeared in 1922 at the hands of its creator in Japan, sensei Mikao Usui.
It is because of the zeal of this legacy that the traditional line of Aoki Gakkai is based on Reiki studies and research by masters from different lines such as Frank Arjava Petter or James Deacon, among others who contributed to uncover myths and rescue the truth in the history of Reiki from the 90s, from the time of its founder in Japan to the present day.
Today we have several lines and lines of Reiki around the world, there is a real war of egos unfortunately, disputing which ones practice the method correctly or which are more faithful to the traditional, or even those who seek an “evolution of Reiki” as a justification for insertions.
What we do know is that during the second great war, while Usui's Reiki was almost extinguished in Japan by government persecutions of pacifists, in the West the Western Reiki lineage born by Takata was born, and which would expand throughout the world, imported by Japan itself later.
In Brazil Reiki arrived in 1983 through Stephen Cord Saiki, and today we have many different practices due to a mistaken association of Reiki with religion or spirituality, with the insertions of North American masters such as Willian Lee Rand, Arthur Robertson, Íris added Ishikuro and Diane Stein. Then a Reiki of several strands is born, Tibetan, spiritualists, mystical and mythical.
Some masters seek to start in the main lines of Reiki today, as the most comprehensive and current form of knowledge of the method, even if this implies disagreement between the lines themselves. There are also those who seek to start on Japanese lines who have not had contact with Western Reiki, although these lines also have insertions in the 90s of other beliefs, even Japanese, such as Shinto healing practices and Johrei.
The fact is that if we look only at Usui's Reiki method, we will find what sensei Usui said was extraordinary because it is extremely simple. The development of intuitive perception, the search for balance, health and happiness through the practice of the five principles, self-healing, the three pillars of Reiki on the way back to yourself.
The Reiki energy is present in every Reikian in the world, belief, religion or difference in practice does not interfere with their existence.
The same Reiki that is in me is in any Reikian in the world, there is no experienced Reikian or better energy. This is just ego, and Reiki energy does not recognize what you want to look like to yourself or to people. That is why Usui sensei said that anyone could become a Reikian, and that he would teach anyone who wanted to learn.
The lineage of the masters is important because it is the document (certificate) of belonging to the lineage of Mikao Usui. It shows its origin, master by master, even you. But, it is not the lineage masters who give importance to it, but Mikao Usui, the founder. A Reiki master cannot be responsible for any master who preceded his initiation, but he needs it in order to connect him to his founder.
Therefore, when there is someone anywhere in the world initiated by a Reiki master of the Usui lineage, there will be a genuine Reikian, regardless of different beliefs and practices.
The traditional line of Aoki Gakkai seeks the essence of Reiki, the words of the master creator, what he sought and expected from his students, without so much justification from other cultures. The simple. And so, the extraordinary.
